Wii, wii, wii - all the way home

A few days ago I bought a Nintento Wii (pronounced ‘we’ [1]).

I’ve never owned a platform game console. I figured that, well, I have a computer and if I want to play a game I’ll just buy some software. But then I saw the in-store ads on the big plasma screens about the Wii, with people jumping around, slashing and shooting monsters, playing tennis and fishing and bowling, and I thought:

That looks like lots of fun!

… and it is lots of fun! … here’s why:

  1. You definitely have to be standing for most of the games
  2. You need to put on the wrist strap or the remote will go flying out of your hand
  3. You need to clear a large space in front of your TV
  4. You need to plug it into your stereo system because some games support digital sound
  5. You need to plug it into your HD TV because some games have high-res graphics
  6. You might accidentally step on the dog as you jump around the room (woof!)
  7. You might get tennis elbow from waving the remote around too much (just ask Gabrielle)
  8. Your arms will feel a little sore the next day
  9. You’ll love to play with friends (so get lots of multi-player games)
  10. You can connect it to the internet - wifi or cable (automated updated, read news, check the weather)
  11. You can take your remote with your avatar inside it to your friend’s house when you play there

It costs about $400 AUD. I figured that would be as much as going out to a restaurant once a week for about a month. Would I get more than 4 nights play out of the Wii? Absolutely!

Well, what are you waiting for?! Buy one now! It’s fun!

I agree - it is soooo much fun!

And I say this despite getting tennis elbow & a sore hip from playing too much ten-pin bowling, tennis & baseball in one ’sitting’…

I would add that it is a serious workout - at the end of playing those games I was feeling hot & worked out as if I had been to a gym or something!
