Oz-IA Cometh … Again!

Oz-IA 2010, Australia’s premiere conference for Information Architecture is just around the corner. This year it’s being held at the Menzies in Sydney — one of my most favorite hotels — and yes, I am presenting this year.

Last years conference was outstanding with lots of new faces and a few cherished old ones. This year, we see the return of Alex Johannesen from Norway who first introduced me to the concept of semantic (topic map) layers in information systems design, Jodie Moule the Queen of Priming, and Matt Moore from the KM side of our community.

If you’re new to the concept of Information Architecture it is, to use the words of the rock star of the IA community, Jesse James Garrett, the practice of making information usable for people as opposed to information stems architecture or database architecture which makes sense out of information for computers. Whether you’re a web geek, BA, librarian or user-experience designer, this conference is not one to miss.

I hope to see you there.
